I think the point was he should have more correctly said "i c h bin Berliner', however some critic would probably have said Kennedy was saying he was a native of Berlin and that also would have been laughed at as incorrect. Just goes to show the biasednews media is always nitpicking something to criticize, rather than portraying the positive side.
