The Russian's are there to help Assad and to also protect their assets in the area. They will pull back and let the coalition bomb some infrastructure, as a pin prick gesture and a slap on the hand, as a response to the chemical attack... The parties that will respond to the coalition will be Russia's allies in the region. This includes Syria and Iran. Iran is very eager to go after the USA and coalition. This is where things could get out of hand... Iran can launch missiles at the Arab Emirates and try to mine and close the Straights of Hormuz. Hezbollah could attack the Saudi Oil fields, the Arab Emirates, and Israel. This could spread Chaos in the Stock Market and draw Israel and the Arab Emirates into a Regional Conflict... The vast majority of military strategy folks (and most people with half a brain) disagree with you... OK, let's try your thesis out, if the first striker takes out 80% of the enemy's nukes, that still leaves the other side with enough weaponry to reduce the attacker to rubble 20 times over rather than 100 times over. That's a superiority that doesn't matter, now does it? Another thought item -- Just how many S-400 missiles does Russia have deployed? The defenses either side has in place could easily be overwhelmed in the face of a large attack. On to another subject - Someone should report you for being truant from 7th grade. Get back to the books and continue your education -- that way you might have something worthwhile to say in the future.  |
