It's an American holiday made to party and sell beer and I'm fine with that. The event that occurred on cinco de Mayo was The Battle of Puebla. It was a regional celebration of the Mexican army ousting French occupied forces from the city. It isn't some big holiday in Mexico. French occupied forces who came to collect on a loan the Mexicans failed to pay back... The caravan of immigrants traveling through and arriving at the US border, looking for asylum now makes sense since they arrived just before May 5th. No doubt they too were looking to have their fees for immigrating to the US waived as well. The solution to most problems is generally close at hand. |

I don't know what lies they told you, but I can promise they were lies. There's a fine line between training, trauma, and torture. |

I don’t agree with the idea of cultural appropriation 100% as long as the culture being celebrated is respected I see nothing wrong with it How else does a subculture become mainstream ? Definintly not by deciding who can or can’t partake in it , Cultures are fluid as air and water and it’s beautiful because that’s how new cultures are birthed Through the intermingling of others |

"Don't you dare put on that 'sombrero,'" the flyer tells students, suggesting that they "donate to organizations working for immigrant rights" rather than have a party. Another option is to "support AUTHENTIC Mexican businesses" run by "actual Mexican people," though it cautions that "CHIPOTLE DOESN’T COUNT." I swear if I ever meet shit heads like this guy I'm going to seriously ruin their life. |

Humans of Earth! I have come in peace. You need not fear me. I mean you no harm. However, it may be important to know that most of you will not survive the next 24 hours. And those of you who do survive will be enslaved and experimented on. You should in no way take any of this personally — it's just business! |

Quoting: 4thhorseman 40+ years ago we used to go the Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Mexicali, San Luis and Juarez. We were young and looking for girls to date. These celebrations were always happy, festive and being a gringo I was accepted by my Mexican friends with open arms. What is not to like? Good times, very peaceful and happy. I have a major appreciation for their culture. I am with you on that. The older culture away from the drunks and hood rats of course. I had a exchange student live with me for years from Mexico. Wonderful piano player. His dad was a Mexican B movie actor. Mejia Once in Columbus Ohio in the later 80's he seen a Chi Chi's, he started laughing hard and said you have a restaurant called Big Boobs!
