for people who know how to translate and follow coordinates they will understand the relevance of the numbers -


i.e. the ios ref is a map grid reference - to 10 places is very close - you can also go say to 6 places - in normal coordinates - if there is such a thing as normal - there are so many types - but in degrees or degrees mins secs - the numbers vary from the grid ref style - so the 2.28 longitude is a match - for the grid ref and so on - they also do nearest city and also country for confirmations - so for GB 225 is given - for Manchester 214 - which translates to 224 - then they give a closer guiding number such as 16 for example

the grid ref finder also listed number 14 High Street as a suggestion - or my computer did - one or the other - I will post bit by bit in case I get a bane - hopefully I won't.

So what I have attempted to do is to show you for the child's address on the island and the place she was found - the grid reference numbers - the coordinates in degrees and in degrees minutes and seconds.


As you can see - I could not find the precise spot on the map to match the coordinates given on the encyclo page - and also depending on which spot of the house you choose alters the last digits of the coordinates - however certain things are very clear.

Lattitude 55 and longitude 5 - will take you to the Isle of Bute

55.85 takes you up and down between the two points

and the 5.06 takes you from east to west the more numbers you add to it - so 5.07 is a bit more west for example.

55.859 could be rounded to 55.86 for a rough less accurate number.

Notice the 622 - or 229

these small numbers help to give a more exact bearing and can be depicted in communications in a number of ways - for example - 22nd June or 22nd September or february 29 etc


the decimal place 85 converts to 51 in degrees and minutes - so instead of 55.85 you get 55.51 and so on.

To save time I am now going to post just a few links to pages and not to each edit - I will let you find them - and discuss something about those pages briefly - there are many more links to follow - but as I say - if you are interested you can look and see.
