I used to help do firework shows a long time ago, and we had guys occasionally make their own shells. The largest shell we ever blew off (I believe it was from China) was 16".

THIS shell looks ridiculous. The concussion you would feel, even from that distance (viewing area to Island) would be amusing. Would love to witness that in person.
