I need some inspiration that’s not artificial.
Listened to some vinyls, old and new stuff.

Been holding a guitar for what feels like hours and can’t string together anything worthwhile.

Being sober and trying to write, create, and play feels so empty. I feel like weed made it easier, I’m sure it didn’t, but damn I feel unmotivated. Alcohol made it worse.

I miss doing the things I thought I used to love, now I feel so drained.

I never found it boring, but I haven’t touched a canvas or my guitar in 3 months after quitting. Now I just feel blasé about the entire creative aspect of music or painting.

I hike a lot, spent the last nice weekend we have around here nestled under the base of a volcano. Came home with nothing.

Now it’s raining, and won’t stop until next year.

Last time I felt truly inspired and in bliss I was sitting on a ship in July, in Bristol bay, watching the sunset at 12am. I left my guitar in Washington, wrote some lyrics though, and when I got home they have been sitting on my bookshelf since.

I thought quitting would be good, in a career sense it has. I landed a great job and am loving what I do, but now I don’t do what I used to love.

That’s beautiful, thanks.

I love my family, my son is everything to me and my wife.

I feel guilty on days/nights like this when I just want to play something conducive to my feelings but my fingers and mind won’t relay my heart. Makes me feel like it was easier when I kicked back, smoked some weed and jammed all weekend without a worry.

Mortgages and bills put a blight on my mood, especially without marijuana.

That’s what I’m saying, why does the world we live in create such a struggle on creativity and living harmoniously. If I don’t work my son starves, my wife has to bear the burden of all our bills? I can’t do that to them, I won’t.

For what it worth I liked that video though man. Keep editing, I’ll keep playing and painting, and the world can keep spinning.

If you limit the concept of "creativity" to certain specific activities, most of which are incredibly tedious, then of course there are conflicts.
I edited an entire movie once. Cleaning out manure was more fun and rewarding.

Have you ever tried music programming?

[link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]

Maybe the stuff you did before you turned sober just simply no longer inspires you?

Maybe you would want to try out something different and more expansive???

:)

I used to play guitar and write music on that.... but then I took up audio programming to make music..... and like.... I haven't been interested enough to play the guitar on more than one occasion since :P

I feel depressed without the drive I used to have, but I’m no hipster. I work as a tankerman on tugs in the Columbia, and spend most of my summers in Alaska. I can hold my own, doesn’t mean I don’t have feelings and get down though. I just haven’t felt much like myself since I committed to a title and responsibility that requires no marijuana, spending time away from home, and less drive to do what I thought I loved. Maybe your right though, I should branch out and stop traveling the same road. Plenty of other hobbies out there.

Lol awww I was only kidding about the hipster thing.

and transitioning through any stage of life can be difficult for a little while. Venture off into something new that you can get excited about and then after a while you may come back to guitar.

I've always drawn and painted. After I got married and was getting into the swing of that. I found d it really difficult to be inspired. I mean I was happy with how life was going its just I couldn't get in my groove ya know. So I taught myself to knint. dove head first into that for a while.... until I had a child.

life will take you all over if you let it

You need exercise to keep your blood flowing and eat healthy foods especially fruits and vegs to get your strength back.

I'm changing too, my body rejecting solid foods which is unusual for a meat eater but I do feel far more happier eating fruits and vegs.

Stay away from junks especially gmo, sugar and chemically modified junks, eat healthy and exercise.

Drink water, D3 5-10k ui softgell and magnesium caps.
