If you were on Earth, and looked up into the direction of the possible impact, what Constellation would be behind it?

Until your military service has required you neutralize enemy combatants and invaders in the defense of your country,
don't presume to tell us that have defended you that you don't support every shot we fired to eliminate that enemy.

If there IS a collision with a possible subsequent crash, will the dome protect us?

Are these just a couple old Soviet pieces of junk of no value?
Or has something modern and in-service been hacked/attacked and being forced to crash?

Now I have not checked my sources.. but Russia does have craft that can take care of that.. as well as fleet...if it is decided its a signifcant damage risk.

Any chance for EMP blast or radioactive fallout?
 Quoting: Big Daddy D

No, and not unless the old Cosmos design was actually one of these:

I don't think it's one of those, there are many different types of Cosmos satellites. Cosmos 1461 isn't mentioned in this page listing the various nuclear US-A launches:

Re: Possible major satellite collision tomorrow *Doom off, the satellites missed each other
The upcoming and probably unavoidable space collision reminds me of this clip, as more and more satellites become disabled, due to succeeding collisions, similar to the effects of having the HAL 9000 computer put to sleep.

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]

In the future, space faring peoples getting through both the asteroid belt, and the Van Allen belts will be a cakewalk, as compared with the dynamic and ever changing debris field of this new layer of man-made objects floating around the earth.

When will this happen, exactly? We probably won't know anything has happened until different satellites fail to respond.
The solution to most problems is generally close at hand.

Over the south Atlantic, east of south America. Doesn't look like anyone is going to be able to live stream it.
