You're a lucky guy. Ukrainian women are the most beautiful women in the world.
No argument there - my wife has the nordic features with blond hair, light blue eyes and high cheek bones - closely resembles Charlieze Theron in my opinion. My friends constantly tease her that she needs glasses because if she could see what I look like she'd run away quickly blink

I can understand the Ukrainian speakers desire to return to their culture, but I can also understand that most of the people in the east and south are of Russian descent and speak Russian. The Ukrainian language had to be revived since during soviet times they all spoke Russian.
Not entirely accurate. My wife's entire family grew up under the Soviet regime and they all speak Ukrainian and Russian. As a matter of fact, Ukrainian language was thought in soviet schools along side Russian classes and a few schools were strictly Ukrainian language oriented. It was the same with religion as Russian Orthodox faith had both: Russian language churches which were tied in with the Moscow Patriarchy and separate Ukrainian speaking churches that identified with the Patriarch of Kiev. That being said, people that attended the Ukrainian versions of schools and churches and used Ukrainian as their daily language were looked down upon and called "peasants" by those that used Russian in their daily life. My wife's family has and is using Russian in their daily communication, hell even I learned to speak and write Russian - I do know Ukrainian as well. Interesting factoid: when I worked in Kiev 2004-2008, the business language was Russian while all official documents had to be written in Ukrainian - it was quite interesting to see...

During the period that Obama/Clinton/Kerry/& cookie lady Victoria Nuland worked to overthrow the govt of Victor Yunokovitc, it quickly became apparent that like US puppets, like Julia Tymoshenko that wanted to literally nuke the Russian speakers in the east, the only thing that Kiev cared about was the land that the Russian Speakers were living on. People in donbass saw the handwriting on the wall and quickly formed their own little country, away from Ukraine.
Hmm... people had nothing to do with this. I've been to Donetsk with my sons godfather, a Ukrainian Police Colonel, and met a few people there. The "people" were just fine living there, early retirement for the mine workers was active and they received fairly nice pensions in Ukrainian Hryvna. The shit hit the fan when the oligarchs started arguing with each other and the Russians moved on Donbass to take over the natural resources. Once the Russians got involved it was all over -propaganda kicked in with full force.

At the same time, Putin, not being an idiot, saw that the US was going to take Crimea (the only russian warmwater port founded by Catherine the Great) and he slapped his hand on it before the US would take it over. (Crimea is not "occupied" country, it was voted on and they are now part of Russia again)
No argument here - smart and only available move for Putin was to annex Crimea protecting his Black Sea Fleet port. As far as "fair" elections? No such thing. My wife's aunt and her family did not have a much of choice during that election - the stories are quite scary at times - and they were promised better economy and more money in pensions. None of the promises have been kept to date but propaganda machine is working overtime there to keep the plebes at bay.

I don't think that most Ukrainians would continue to try to genocide the people of donbass, but the US and powers like Monsanto push Kiev to get the land back.
That's pure propaganda - no one is trying to "genocide" anyone in the Donbass region. However, in a civil war atrocities will happen on both sides and propaganda takes care of the rest. It a pure shit show.

I'm extremely disappointed in Trump for aiding with arms to the Ukrainians. Anything that the US adds to the war in Ukraine, the Russians counter. If Russia had been inclined to "take" Ukraine, they would have done it long ago.
Ukrainians are happy with Trump and it's understandable as Russia has been completely demonized through propaganda. In my opinion, both the US and Russia should stop their proxy shit and get out - allowing the Ukrainians to settle their own differences - they would run out of cash quickly and come to an agreement for sure.

Donbass will NEVER return to Ukraine. Too much water has gone under the bridge now, and Crimea will never return either.
Agreed - things have gone too far and too much blood has been spilled.

Donbass is fighting for survival and Ukraine is fighting for land. Kiev doesn't give a shit about the people that have lived there their entire lives, because they speak Russian. I just want it to stop.
It's an honor issue now for the Kiev Gov and it's about the resources (nat gas) in Crimea. While you're very noble about wanting it to stop - I do wholeheartedly do as well - nothing will happen until the US and Russia step away.

Donbass has never attacked outside of their boundaries, yet Kiev keeps "punishing" them. I think they just need to establish boundaries and stop fighting.
Theoretically, the Ukrainian Gov is attempting to recover it's own legal territory and they would have been successful in 2014 if Russia did not interfere. Much less blood would have been spilled and a peaceful resolution would have been more plausible.

You are welcome to correct my understanding.

It's easy to pass judgement on what happened in the past from behind a computer screen. The fact is - I was not there when the shit hit the fan in Kiev during the Maidan. My wife and I watched it unfold in awe and saw the US presence there - I even said on record that it's insane US got involved and that Putin will make his move right after the Winter Games in Sochi - which he did right on cue.

In my opinion, it was a grave mistake by the Ukrainian oligarchs, the Ukrainian ruling class, to run off Yanukovich. As corrupt as he was, Yanukovich knew very well that the key to survival for Ukraine was to be a neutral buffer between the EU and the Russian Federation. But, money talks and bullshit walks as they say - the promises of "money" and "power" from the US were stronger than what Russians offered. The old adage is true: if you don't know the cause of a thing just follow the money and all will be made clear.
