History is rife with examples of the Church calling witches evil, and of saying the real gods and goddesses are really demons.

You do know that before Christianity came around people worshippped real gods and goddesses? And what better way to get people to turn to the Church, and give them their money, than to call the real god and goddesses "demons"? Make people too afraid to use magick, so they'd have to rely on the Church.

Completely ignoring the qualities that for centuries, millenia, people said the gods and goddesses had, the Church in one broad stroke labeled them all demons. Okay. If they can ignore what's written about qualities of a god or goddess, whose to say we can't ignore the qualities of your god? It goes both ways.

Also, magick can be used for good or evil. Believe it or not, Wicca and Paganism has codes of conduct. In the sense of not using it to harm or twist people. While that's not forbidden, in some corners it's frowned upon. Also, we don't need a god to pray to and bow to and scrape to. Saying that is how the Church gets your donations and money.
