He gets his stitches out in 7 days. Now that is going to be painful. Wondering if they going to use a staple remover to take them out. Heck, I can do that myself. lol Quoting: Diabolical Thanks for the update. Glad he is doing well. Happy Thanksgiving to you and hugs for him! Glad he lost the fever. You can put ice on the staples for 30 minutes before they come out. Or you can droggie him up. Most of the time the irration is minimal. Mine were a boitch but I have a pain disorder. Your Tiger should do great. |

They will probably want to do a follow up X-ray to check the healing and any potential complications. Wriggly |

He's getting smarter now, where I put the pills. So, I know he's starting to feel better. lol He hates the pills in the turkey meat, so he spits the pill out and eats the turkey eat. HAHA Quoting: Diabolical I have to put the pills down my dog's throat, and even then she is good at spitting them out. Many times I find 1 out of 4 on the carpet. Not chunks and gravy, the kind that is homogeneous. Take a good spoonful and push the pills inside the food. Manipulate it so it's like a football shaped meatball. Most dogs will just scarf it down and not bite it or chew it. One of my dogs is a regular Houndini at getting rid of pills, this method works every time with him. Wriggly |

The antibiotics were a bit bigger and he figured that out. lol The cat helps by trying to steal his hotdog and he's like I don't think so. Tomorrow he gets his stitches out. |

It's irritated because they took the staples out. They said the e-collar can come off in two days. The nurse also said he's walking on his leg good, and in two weeks he won't realize what leg it was that he hurt. She also said the fever after the surgery is normal that dogs temperatures run higher then people's do. |

Pooka User ID: 36721404 United States 11/30/2018 10:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Love that all news about Tiger has been positive. Just that cone coming off is going to enliven him considerably! LOL How long til he can run at will? The secret to using meat or dogfood to get pills down them is to toss them about three "footballs" of the plain meat or dogfood, then the fourth one has the pill, and the fifth no pill. That usually works. Make up the five "footballs" before you start so there is no hesitation at the medicated one - I've gotten pills down the most reluctant animals that way. Helps if your cat is getting small "footballs" at the same time - dog worries cat might get them and swallows his even more quickly. So happy this painful saga is nearly over for Tiger and for you! Prayer is the most powerful force on earth. “I care not for a man's religion whose dog and cat are not the better for it.” Abraham Lincoln I sign all karma given. Would that those giving it to me followed suit. |

So happy this painful saga is nearly over for Tiger and for you! neat trick with the meat. I might try that. He was slick this morning and took the pill out of the hotdog. lol I found it. I already took the cone off him because he's not touching his wound at all, he is still resting. He's already trying to run and the nurse said that he's using his leg better which is good sign, and she believes that in two weeks he will be running a marathon and won't know what leg he hurt. Hmm, he's already trying to run but, I still won't let him. I'm going to have him on bed rest for another 3 weeks before I let him start jumping and running. I want it to heal properly with no complications. Only to go number 2 and that's a short gait. Then he goes back to bed. I will put a video on youtube when I start to let him run. Just taking precautions right now. I don't want to mess up all the GLPer's work on his leg. :) XOXO |

His stitches have healed up nicely. Nice and pink. We're still sleeping on the floor and in two weeks I will post his video of running in the yard. I still have him on bed rest. Even though he's acting like he's fine. I'm not chancing it. My room will be back to normal in two weeks. lol |
