In areas where it's just high winds & no rain...how much ya wanna bet that fires are going to start?

Don't make fun of me but I went long on those cordless tools especially the lights.

We have four of the cordless lights in two key spots in our house to make it easy for everyone.

As a prepper item rechargable batteries are a must.

Do quality.

I also have two of this solar chargers that you can hang in a window for cell phones and small electronics.

Major Wind Event.
So basically it's gonna rain for a few days.
But let's whine about it and act like its earth shattering.

F'n snowflakes.

Looks like this one is going to miss us for a change - we'll see.

Just off North Vancouver Island, and we've gotten nailed several times in the last month, basically a wind warning for a week, hit 65knots at one point. We've been lucky not to lose power here, a lot of the lower mainland (Vancouver etc.) lost power for some time.

Spoken like a true idgit who's never dealt with a PNW windstorm. When you're without power for a week, getting 6 inches of rain in 24 hours while a tree has caved in your roof or a mudslide taken out your living room window, you come on back and let us know how that's working out for you.

Tonight was 57mph @ 3,100rpm.

I was without power for 8 days in the December 06 storm, that fucks with your head, so glad I moved

Well crap. I guess I need to put my bra back on and go buy some overpriced firewood from Safeway. The last round of wind storms / power outages nearly wiped out my supply. I live in a condo so I don’t have much space for wood.

I appreciate the heads up though! I didn’t know another storm was headed our way. Sounds like I’ll sleep through it but wake up to no power. I always lose power where I live during these storms (lots of trees), but I don’t really mind when the power goes out. I’m a camper and have lots of gear. I just do a little indoor camping for a couple days. I have a fireplace, lots of lanterns, a butane stove, and French press for coffee, so I’m good.

I lose power so often during the winter, and generators are against my condo’s bylaws, so I picked up Anker’s PowerHouse, a portable 400Wh power supply (120,000 mAh). It rocks! I can even plug in my router and still have WiFi when the power is out. I highly recommend it if you live in an area that looses power frequently and are unable to keep a generator.

Huh... This must be part of helping to continually weaken California. Sad. Good luck everyone else on the West Coast though.

So far Seattle area is calm.

wind is a bit different in oregon, they have 100 ft trees

and water saturated soil


High winds can be more serious there than other places

The difference is the tall trees whose roots are in mud from days' rain. The soil gets so waterlogged, and mudsldes are so common.

The trees line the roadsides and fall over tearing out power lines and falling on cars, not to mention roofs on peoples houses.

The wind speeds may be the same - but the conditions and results are so different.
