DARPA looking to make AI modeled on insect brains

From the article: "Studying miniaturized insects may reveal fundamental innovations in architecture and computation analogous to their simultaneous simplicity, efficiency and complex functionality,” researchers wrote. “Compared with larger-brained organisms, these insects may hold the keys to strategies for AI that combine energy- , time- and space-efficient operation.”

Perhaps the architecture in which the insect brain constructs itself will be a manner to better understand the architecture of the manner the human brain constructs itself.

Most likely we ll first have to deal with insect cyborgs.

Genetically modified mosquitoes carrying deadly biological or chemical agents, controlled by tiny computer chips merged with the mosquito "brains".
