The ad really didn't bother me, what does are the NPC retweeters whom have the ignorance and inability to perceive what has really happened--this is Pelosi and the Democrats' shutdown.

Our American President has made numerous efforts to reach out to them only to be ridiculed and disrespected.

It's Pelosi and the Democrats that do not care about American citizens; they could end this instantly, yet choose to not.

It is my wish our American President doesn't give an inch and remains waiting for the Dems to stop hurting our nation.

Eventually he just may need to declare a national emergency behind their malfeasance and unwillingness to do their jobs.

Until your military service has required you neutralize enemy combatants and invaders in the defense of your country,
don't presume to tell us that have defended you that you don't support every shot we fired to eliminate that enemy.

Here's a thought , why don't they take their melted cheese to the homeless in Cali and feed those that are really staving instead of those that reside in one ,if not the richest areas in the country.

Wonder if they're asking for government ID, or are they taking people's word for it.

Re: Full page : Strange Kraft Brand ad in washington post on Day 30 of Government Shutdown.
Honestly, I've gone much longer than 30 days without work and never needed a free handout of food, or money for that matter. Government employees are paid well, guaranteed back-pay and being given interest free loans -- why do they need charity?
 Quoting: coyoteblue

Thank you! My husband and I are both self-employed, and I am certainly not complaining because this is the choice we have made for ourselves.

However, these workers have a few things I do not have (outside of the shutdown, of course):

1. Steady paycheck, knowing exactly how much they are going to get with each check and exactly when they are going to get it. I can try to make a "budget" for my family, but it usually gets shot to hell (up or down) within a few days.

2. Nice health care benefits with reasonable deductibles and premiums -- a fraction of mine.

3. The promise of back pay from when they are not working due to a shutdown.

4. Paid vacations and sick days.

5. The ability to "bank" their unused vacation days and sick days for another year or for early retirement. (I think they have some restrictions on banking the sick days, but you get my point.)

6. Maternity leave and family leave without being replaced by someone else while they are out. (My clients need the work done, and will find someone else with no qualms.)

7. Cannot be fired or replaced (at least, not very easily, not like in the private sector or the self-employed world).

8. Matched retirement investments and other benefits (which some people get in the private sector).

9. Steady cost of living raises (not guaranteed every year, but in general, yes).

I'm sure there is more.

Don't get me wrong, I would not trade my work and lifestyle for theirs any day! But...

Are they telling us that they get steady, consistent income, and even accounting for unexpected bumps in life, they are not able to budget a little every month for a small cushion of savings? Enough for at least one mortgage payment?

I know they'd need cash for the mortgage payment and things like that. For everything else (groceries, utilities, etc.), if they haven't saved in advance, put it on a damn credit card and pay it back when the guaranteed back pay comes in. Sheesh.
 Quoting: Renaissance Woman

Exactly

How does opening a free grocery store in Washington DC help the 800k families?

The people who stormed the store for the freebies were prob all illegals and welfare recipients.

It's highly unlikely that actual govt workers were in line picking up goroceries for their families

What’s the issue with this? Good for business and also contributing to make sure the shutdown, which is necessary, is as painless as possible for people who are effected. Maybe I’m over looking something I just don’t see why it’s a problem.

Globalist corporate oligarchs care not one wit about us. This is fake self-serving drivel, designed to add a sense of crisis to a situation that doesn't warrant it.

How many free groceries did they hand out every time they ran farmers, miners, loggers, and factory workers into joblessness??

Because those in the DC area are the richest MF's in America that's why.
Opening a store in DC doesn't help federal workers who live and work in middle America does it? No.

This is pure politics on their part. I'm sure DC helps Kraft plenty and Kraft is just returning the favor.

I can't feel sorry for people who make 3x more than the rest of America for the same job and are notorious for not paying income taxes. They should have plenty of money set aside in their bank accounts.
