BS. When there were millions of people and advanced civilization in the area (unlike today when any technology they have they import from the first world) I am sure they had far less trees. Where I live in the suburbs in NY state, there are a lot of trees. It's almost like a forest with houses placed within it. But there are pictures of the area from around the time of the Civil War, 150 years ago, and all the land was clear and being farmed. It doesn't take long for a forest to grow, when land is no longer being farmed. In the case of this area, the Erie Canal and later transportation made it possible to bring in food from better farmland in the midwest. Cutting down a lot of those trees (in Guatemala and other parts of Central America) would allow them to farm an area that has such great weather, you can just drop a seed on the ground and it will grow. And less trees would allow the trade winds to blow through and cut down on the heat and humidity. The area's worth repopulating. Last Edited by oniongrass on 01/21/2019 09:33 PM . The ancient Mayan culture is really something, they knew about the wheel (children's toys had them) but they never used wheels because they had plenty of river transportation which was way more efficient. Quoting: sseess [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] I haven't watched the vid but what immediately came to mind is a story I read/vid I saw, a few years back(could be 5 or more, I'm not sure, maybe someone will recall) about a Woman who discovered a whole slew of previously unknown/forgotten to time, ancient Egyptian cities & pyramids. As I recall it was done by using NASA/Military satellites that had some sort of ability to either see things below ground or some laser/software combination which detected subtle, hurried "things" by detecting patterns & converting them to sort rendered picture of what was barried. Sorry if that didn't convey my thoughts well, my dog woke me up & so decided to jump online while I had a smoke. Fuck what the flag by my name says, I'm from Texas! Wake up & smell reality.
