Here is an easy tip.
If you cannot afford to keep a large amount of cash in your vehicle for a SHTF event, carry a checkbook!
In the early hours of a grid down, no one will be able take M/C or VISA, but they should still be accepting cash, and if you are in the suburbs, they will accept checks.
