Highlander Battery Terminal Cap Removal Question
I realize this is an odd question to post here, but I can't seem to find anything in the manual or online to answer a problem I am having removing the red plastic terminal cap on my Highlander battery. Our temps here today were so cold that the battery appears to have frozen, but I am unable to remove the red terminal cap that has a plastic side tab and looks like this one....

For anyone else here who owns a Highlander or has a siminlar terminal cap design, how do I remove this? I've tried prying it upwards with no avail, and yet I can't seem to get this plastic side-grip tab off or unlatched.

Seems very clear it requires a hammer.

Try squeezing it at the widest part before you lift.

Re: Highlander Battery Terminal Cap Removal Question
maybe two prybars.
maybe pliers can crack or loosen up enough to pry off.
if i still couldnt get it i would cut it with my cordless multitool saw or hacksaw or something then i would hammer and chisel it off carefully.
do they have a way to jumpstart that car. would suck being stuck or not being able to help somebody with a dead battery.
alot of should be simple things in todays cars they make annoyingly difficult. good luck.

Or squeeze as I stated, and then twist.

That's it! You just lift it straight up from the base along side the battery, not from the top of the battery.
