Maine's gun rights threatened with nomination of Sauschuck, whose stance is anti-gun

Gun rights in Maine have been threatened with the nomination of Michael Sauschuck, former police chief of Portland, Maine. The Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee voted 8 to 5 to send the nominee to the Maine Senate for confirmation as Commissioner of Public Safety. Protests of this nominee are ongoing as of now, with people calling their state senators to stop this man from being confirmed. The nominee is a gun control advocate, and while having taken an oath to uphold the constitution, has been on record with his stance, including participation in highly-visible events aimed at gun control. Sauschuck was nominated by our former AG, now Governor Janet Mills, who claims to be protective of gun rights in Maine. Heated discussion ensued yesterday along with hours of testimony against the candidate from many interesting demographics in Maine who traveled to Augusta to be heard, including Democrat professionals, shooting range owners, concealed carriers, battered women, and common-sense millennials.
