Most advertising dollars are like gifts from the advertiser to the advertisee---such as CBS, the NFL, Time-Warner, Spectrum. Ad campaigns generally result in most of the dollars invested by the advertiser never coming back to him/them. At best, sales will increase by a small amount and the base of new customers will grow by X percent. But if the effectiveness of an ad campaign were the key to a company's success, a lot more companies would gladly give their dollars to groups like the ones responsible for the Super Bowl. It's more a case of one business rubbing the back of another business. That's why a lot of people in an advertising department, working with an advertising company, overseen by a company's CEOs and employees having a good time in the executive lounge, can be virtue-signalling libtards without a care in the world. They're like another form of trust-fund babies. . |
