Interestingly when I read the true details of Chernobyl, I again realized how truly heroic Russians can be. They are fine people with a junk government. Literally it was a simple communications problem. Who runs a steam reactor and has not got good and reliable comms between stations? It's like having a train barrelling forward at 100mph and the engineer is deaf. Clearly rational people such as Russians would not do stupid shit if their government was not completely worthless.
