Paper gold is too much counter party risk for wise people. I do have gold stored in Brinks vaults around the world via Goldmoney. It's physical not paper. Your talking about the Comex. How long till you take possession? Goldmoney did have immediate possession via a debit card you could transfer into fiat and spend at any store in the United States. The government regulated that part of it's business in the United States (they are actually blaming it on the actual debit card provider and saying it will be resolved), but you can take physical delivery of your gold or you can transfer it via a wire transfer. It use to be 100% liquid in gold. Now, its a gold vault until the regulations are resolved. I would store most of my physical metal at home. But, the free market is attempting to make gold 100% liquid (it was just last year). |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73554716 I can store $10,000 in fiat in a drawer for 5 years, and when I spend, it has the purchase power of, say, $8000. I can store $10,000 in gold in that same drawer, and when I trade for fiat, I may get $13,000. I am out though. I just can't see "owning" something that will take days to get custody of. True, I would hold my physical wealth, but there are free market options that exist in Brinks vaults around the world. That was 100% liquid (e.g. a debit card you could use to spend your phyiscal gold) until that part of the business was regulated out of business in the United States. It is still available in Europe. |

It is about $4400 for 100 gram bars right now. If price doubles in the next 15 years to $8800, you still fall below reporting thresholds upon sale. That is the "right" way to unload some stash. since when has size been an issue? |
