Try to fix a lopsided trade deficit for future business to come to parity, or go all in on communist tax and spend policies to the tune of trillions instantly that are literally guaranteed to kill our economy and destroy our future? I know what camp I sit on. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76254102 ^This is why they are forcing mass migration on us. The primary problem is your overspending for years. Our wages are too high to compete with the 3rd world. Mass Migration drives wages down via flooding the market with laborers. Cheaper labor is the goal with mass migration. Tariffs also work if the taxes are high enough to offset the wage difference. If the tariffs are high enough companies in this nation can produce the same product for the same price if not cheaper. But that's a pipe dream. They've let it get too far out of control so collapse is inevitable. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77173110 The trade gap with China also hit a record $419 billion, underscoring the stakes for the president’s bid to reach a deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping as soon as this month. The department’s final 2018 trade report, which was delayed by the government shutdown, showed that the U.S. bought far more in foreign goods than it sold to customers in Europe, Asia, North America and Africa. The goods shortfall topped the 2006 record of $838.3 billion, set as the housing bubble was peaking, and marked the third consecutive year of rising deficits. It has been evident for months that the president was failing to shrink a trade gap that he calls “unsustainable” and that he says represents a massive transfer of wealth from Americans to foreigners. Over the past year, even as he imposed tariffs on foreign-made solar panels, washing machines, steel, aluminum and assorted goods from China, imports roared ahead of exports. The gold standard would be a colossally bad idea because gold is a finite resource that can be hoarded. So he who hoards the most gold could theoretically set monetary policy. No, the ability to print & control the money supply should be given over to a democratically elected body and it is the amount of currency in circulation that is the key to proper monetary policy. But gold standard tards will never believe this....I guess you guys just want to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire! |

This is actually a great post imo mainly because it addresses the fact that it takes TIME to re-establish these trade deals. No one....not even Trump.....is going to waltz in and start telling the Chinese how it's going to be. Anyone here ever try to barter with Asian people....I mean savvy Asian business men & politicians? Until you have, don't say shit because they are the toughest people on the planet to get a deal from! Long story short, you don't fix this problem over-night and it could take 2 full terms in office to get it done right. Once it is done right tho, we will have great new trade deals and something very difficult to obtain....the respect of the Chinese. |
