BREAKING!! 5.3 EARTHQUAKE Big Island Hawaii

There were 2 couple days apart plus a plasma stream..I,m on a new laptop so info is not saved just yet...or I would supply the links..

You know, after the two big ones here and the many biggish after shocks i developed Vertigo where i kept getting super off balance with the slightest tremor, i think it is common tbf but it kind of tells me we need to be wary of these events as if it is encoded into our DNA etc?
Anyway - i feel every little ripple nowdays, even when not showing on the sites etc, kinda built in protection!

When the side of that volcano falls into the sea huge waves will radiate out from it. Coastlines of many countries will be effected.

About a dozen small quakes in the area the last day. Dont know what its been doing prior.

Yes the quake was centered right on the land side of the slump which probably will add to instability of the area.

Not good for the west coast of the US-- eg. eventual tidal wave from slump debris falling into the ocean.

see at the end of the two charts, theres a big spike there and then it starts from much lower (does it correspont to the time of the earthquake?)

Yikes! That would be my worst nightmare - being on an island and facing threats of earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunami danger. Hope you all are staying safe!

"M5.5 (revised up from 4.8, then 5.3) quake within Kīlauea’s south flank in the National Park 4 miles deep, caused strong shaking around Volcano and felt through Puna with additional felt reports island-wide. This appears to be more ground settling of the still-mobile flank, with no other apparent significant change on the volcano at this time — this may fall into the post M6.9 grouping as the land continues to adjust after last year’s movements."

When Kilauea magma chamber collapsed last year and drained, all the lava tubes/chambers filled in. Now that the eruption is over, the lava is pooling again and trying to refill the chamber. Since the avenues for the lava to flow back into the chamber have collapsed, it is unclear what/where all that lava will go. Shouldn't be surprised that eq might happen as rock gets pushed/melted from the lava.

For some good GLP Doom, some think that the island might have a major explosive eruption as the lava tries to refill the blocked chamber......
