I have a first in office appt. with the cardiologist who did my emergency stent after having a heart attack less than two weeks ago. I've had my insurance deny two different 'scripts for statins, and quite honestly, I think that's divine intervention.

I do not want to take statins, and I've started taking serrapeptase to help with reducing the plaque....there are no other clogs in my ateries, but they are showing signs of constriction.

A client of mine told me about ezetimibe, the generic for Zetia, and I'm wondering if youse guyses have any personal experience about this drug. It is not a statin, and is used in concert with a statin. I'm hoping to use it in concert with the serrapeptase with be efficient in lowering my levels.

I suppose what I'm hoping is that the doc will approve of this without too much argument.

I know I do not have to take anything I don't want to, but my cholesterol readings are very high, and I so do not want to have another heart attack. It hurts really, really bad to have a heart attack.

I'm also totally changing up my diet more to plant based foods, and I'm going to start walking very soon. I know that's key to my health also.

Also, I do take in oils. I eat organic butter, I take CBD oil, black seed oil, and other oils, so I'm not so much concerned about not getting enough oils.

Can anyone here advise me? My appt. is in two hours, and I don't want to see him without being at least a bit educated.

Thank you....hf

Re: Statins are gonna kill you eventually. They cause muscle pain, premature aging, memory loss, even cancer...
In actual, unbiased, studies, there was practically no benefit to statins. Statins do increase calcium deposits in coronary arteries. People that have been taking statins for a while will have coronary artery calcium scores that that generally only appear in people that have already died of heart disease. When my father-in-law died, his score would have been about 1500, and he hadn't taken the statins for 3 years before he died. My brother was on them for seven years, and hit 1400! We are working to reverse the damage now.
 Quoting: Epic Beard Guy

Correct, and they also increase cancers.

I really dug into a statin trial study that was available online a few years ago, they claimed to have made the decision to stop the trial early, after 2 or 3 years instead of the scheduled 5 years, because the benefits were too great to deprive people of the drug.

What the data really showed was a fairly significant reduction in heart problems early on , which many others have attributed to an anti inflammatory effect , followed by a slow increase in all cause mortality. In other words after only a few years their were fewer heart deaths but there were a greater number of overall deaths. Actually the study was stopped before it could show that but it was obviously heading rapidly in that direction.

Most of the increase in deaths were cancer related which take several years to develop after starting the statins but the anti inflammatory effect shows up in reduced heart problems immediately so if you can keep the trials short enough you can produce the illusion of a benefit.

There are lots of ways to lower your inflammation without statins.

I've seen some things in my family and friends.
One began to shake (an older person) tremors
Another had muscle pain (a younger man) that took a long time to go away

The fastest way to recover is obvious: eating lots of cholesterol foods! (which were never bad in the first place)

Cholesterol are the fire fighters, inflammation is the problem

How long to go away. I took that crap for 2.5 months.

Quit it & fired my doctor. Still bothering me, recover is slow.

Another well respected way to lower cholesterol is with niacin B3 the kind that gives a flush, need to take it in large doses, very safe and inexpensive.

More than a decade ago an AMA gang member prescribed a stain laced drug for my cholesterol. Within a day my face was beat red--quit taking it. On a follow up visit, the good doc insisted I take it and to try it with Metamucil at bed time. It seemed to work for three day. On the third night I awoke with my face not only beat red, but facial muscles contorting and twitching.

Never touched that shit again and have warned many associates of the side effects. The concoction is poison to me-and likely many others.

Statins were kind of a gag, like "you're not fat, you have diabetes" and were reported to cause dementia? Have not recommended them in over 10 years and the last person i knew on them had...dementia

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76549085

Well, if I don't I will walk away with the 'script, but will probably not fill it. There are just too many signs to me that I should not take it.

I do think the serrapeptase and changing my diet and walking are going to help a great deal, and I can try it my way for say three months, get my cholesterol levels checked again, and then go forward from there.

Thank you so much for this thread, lovey....hugshf

If you are not taking magnesium you should. It is vital to heart health. A lot of heart issues can be improved by getting enough magnesium. Most people are deficient in it. I take a supplement and use the oil on my skin and my heart palpitations went away.

Statins came from mushrooms. Eating the oyster mushroom is more bebeficial than taking the pill and when we overuse substances the body only needs a little of, we cause syndromes and damage that we would not run into just eating the food they were hijacked from. The reishi, cordyceps, turkey tail mushrooms are older guys friend. They will also help ward off most cancer and heart problems. Bon apetit'!

Eat an apple and pear each day. Seriously. They are better than statins. Just eating 1 apple a day lowers your cholesterol by like 40% or something like that. Look on YouTube. There are doctors that talk about this. i’m not making this up. A friend of mine in his early 40s had a heart attack this past summer. Scared the crap out of me, so I spent weeks researching how to prevent cardiovascular disease. Fortunately, I’ve been taking serrapeptae for the past few years for joint inflammation anyway. Look up Dr. Bergman’s videos ( he’s not the guy who mentioned the appple study, though).
