So..........the wife texted me the other morning - "windows frozen, what should i do?"

I texted back, "slow pour lukewarm water over it for a minute."

A few minutes later she texts back, "that's the last time i ask you for computer help!"

My choice between zero-day vulnerabilities and microsoft windows vulnerabilities, I'll take my chances with zero-day.

Windows is the greatest most beautiful OS out there.

Never crashes, never fails.

Windows 10 is awesome.

Install it if you haven't already done so.

Again. Wouldn't surprise me is MS arranged the security threat against Win7 so they could recommend that all would be well if we'd just upgrade to 10. Well, 10 sucks and it's ugly. Not going to do it.
Now someone is targeting 8 & 10.

Knock on wood - I've found that turning off MS updates keeps my machine running smoothly. Just update your security program.

That what I did eventually.

I have shut off updates on my 10 in settings, and even went into services and disabled it.

However, my 10 just keeps updating.

Do that and disable all unnecessary services. That's about half of them.

Privilege escalation exploits.

Big deal, there's a million of them. It's a cat and mouse game keeping up with them.

I run as admin anyway...

Lock your system down by disabling unnecessary services and running a decent firewall.

And don't use sketchy compromised software.

I'm on 7 with no updates since spring 2016 when MS betrayed their customers.

Clement Lecigne, warned the zero-day vulnerability could be used together with a Chrome exploit to take over Windows systems and advised people to upgrade to Windows 10.

The real problem is Chrome. The windows exploit is just the privilege escalation. The path of infection is Chrome. Google just trying to deflect some of the blame.

The only thing you can do is physically disconnect the computer from the internet and unplug it or take the battery out of it, Windows 10 is the worst Trojan virus ever created , it completely eliminates personal security
