A fish is a living being. It's symbol represents Christianity. I feel people should be respectful of all life, even the "lowly" fish.

He should have just squished it.

We have dominion over all plants and animals but such responsibility means merciful judgement. We are within our rights to end life down the food chain but it should be merciful and with as least suffering as possible, whenever possible. Sometimes this is not possible yet in good conscience we should make the effort proving we are the top of the food chain, intellect and morally superior. There will be rare times where merciful execution is the only viable solution to the situation and conditions. I dare say even for us humans.
