Bitter melon is a traditional summer dish in Chinese food.
I enjoy the flavor, it's definitely something different.
You can order it at Chinese restaurants.

A friend from Taiwan told me last weekend that once your are older than 40, you should only drink tea and water, not fruit juice or sweets. The Chinese also like sweets quite a bit, a lot of candied fruits and things like hawthorne are very popular there.
