I cannot for anything get my link to attach, but it looks like the quake occurred in the middle of the Moluccan sea between the Sangihe Trench and Halmahera Trench.

The sea itself sits on a micro plate, where the sea is being subducted in the directions of the Eurasian Plate to the west and the Philippines Sea Plate to the east. The Molucca Sea Plate extends to the north. This is called a divergent double subduction zone, as well, because one of the plates is being subducted on two sides.

I was thinking the same thing. 36 km seems pretty deep to me, which would also align with his theory.

Interesting! I was just listening to a video from Council of Time YT channel about the Plate Shifting and California quakes. In that video Mike said, 'While we were having our EQ in America, there was a small issue on the Philippine plate in the ocean. There was gases rising caused by our EQ which caused a pretty big shift.'
