That seems like an odd escort. The A-10 has limited air-to-air capabilities, but is of course one of the premiere close air support aircraft of all time. Seems like they were more concerned with threats from the ground, like someone with a a surface to air missile.

Edit:
Just had a thought, maybe the A-10 was going side to side to mask the heat signature (or radar) of the jet? Then if a missile was fired, it would track the A-10 instead, which could deploy counter measures and try to evade?

A10's are propeller planes. Why would it be escorting a much faster jet?

A-10's are NOT propeller planes. They have twin jet engines, and would have a top speed similar to the private jet

Had to have been. Not a small private plane either. Just a bit larger. 20-30passenger.
The A-10 was literally 20 meters off its ass. Never seen anything like it. Just like a movie. A-10 was so loud. Like the Harley of the sky.

There's no mistaking military aircraft engines.

Once had a b1 fly over at maybe 500 feet. It really scared me very bad.

It came over a ridge right over me. Fhe ridge masked the noise. The sounx was very abrupt and unnerving.

A-10s don't escort because they aren't designed for that. The simple answer is they were both military and going to the same destination so they went together. The plane that appeared private probably had military brass on it.If they feared something they would have had an F class fighter or two with them.

Could just be two planes going to a airshow. The A-10 and small support crew.

It is airshow time on year.

I'm in LC too, would love to see you pics.

Really have noticed an uptake in military air traffic around here the past year. Since there are no commercial air lanes around here it pretty obvious when these missions pass by overhead.

I heard the racket but didn't go outside to check it out, it's getting so frequent these days...

If a call goes out for need of an escort, the A-10 may have been the closest aircraft that was capable.

Could have also been a plane heading to the base and reported problems and asked to have another pilot to a visual inspection...this would explain going back and forth behind the plane...looking at the tail section, elevator perhaps.
