That matches max wave during the Perfect Storm in 1991!!!p472 From the Miami NWS Disco... EXTENDED FORECAST... All eyes continue to monitor Tropical Storm Dorian over the Eastern Caribbean Sea for this weekend. NHC is currently forecasting Tropical Storm Dorian to move to the northwest late this week before turning to more of a west northwest direction this weekend, and be somewhere in the near Northwest Bahamas or near the east coast of Florida this weekend. At this time, the threat for winds and heavy rains has increased for this weekend. It`s important not to focus on the details of the extended track forecast as the average 5-day track error is around 150 to 200 miles. Keep up with this evolving forecast as the details become clearer in the days going forward. This is a good reminder to make sure that your plan and supplies are in order as we head into the peak of the Hurricane Season. |

Quoting: Truth Reaper Polk fl here,I am not reacting to much.I have prepped. Its a epstein distraction I believe I'm outside Ocala. We cut all the trees down that would have caused a problem last hurricane. I have plywood but I'm sure I won't have to break it out unless things change. Due to this land interaction, further intensification is unlikely until it moves north of the Bahamas this weekend and threatens the Southeast by Labor Day. |

Made me think a Cat 5 was now being predicted by the models and that couldn't be further from the truth. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37268909 It just comes across as fear mongering, click-bait bull when stated like that. I appreciate Luis passion, but sometimes his maniacal energy in this regard causes confusion and even frustration for those in the path of these storms to not take them as seriously since its like 'the boy who cried wolf'. You are offending me! This was a question hasked by other forum member! Sorry if that offends, but a title in regards to a serious matter shouldn't deal with 'Doom Levels' but actually ordained measures of severity. I don't believe that's an actual gauge for storm strength and intensity, but rather one of our grand ole GLP memes. Wasn't trying to offend, but if my simple observation did well I was only stating my opinion, man... |

Up to 10 inches of rain is possible, which may trigger flash #flooding. [link to twitter.com (secure)] The ECMWF ensemble guidance for #Dorian still shows a large spread in possible tracks from South Florida up through North Carolina. Even the northeastern Gulf of Mexico may be at play for impacts. If you reside near the Southeast coast, have a hurricane plan in place! |

And the CAT 2 only depends on flooding. if you're in a low lying area and you're near the coast you should definitely take this seriously. But if this jumps up or changes directions we're staying tuned. Quoting: TheElephantInTheRoom It can be a Cat3 or biger... we don't know the intensity now, but Dorian is missing PR so no weakening untill he got Fl coast. |

He's out to sea right now, but standard Navy protocol is to inform family and friends of potential danger from an incoming storm. We just received the email from his ship telling us what their hurricane protocol is which means the ship will be remaining out at sea until it's safe for the ship to return to port. It also gives safety procedures for those on land which everyone hears from the Weather Channel, etc. So... It seems they're anticipating this to definitely affect Florida. Thank you for ALL updates Luisport! I just next to Mayport... Just moved here from Indy. It will be an interesting next few days. |

The earlier westwards track was influenced by the trade winds. This northerly track is influenced by a ULL. A larger scale ridge also nudges it west. This is why Dorian is no long expected to impact Hispaniola, and might also miss PR. |
