Folks are more likely to fall victim to prions just by eating food grown w/ bio-solids or sludge spreading as fertilizer. Our great granddaddy's poop fertilizer is NOT what is being spread all over farms across our country today.

I used to love to hunt, still love it when a fellow neighbor graces me w/ venison for my crock pot. Here in NC we don't see a lot of evidence for wasting disease but know other parts of country seeing more than fair share.

And yeah, a few of you folks have already commented this disease (as others) have been created in a lab. I believe that to be the case as well.

The entire state of Wyoming is pretty much covered in red, totally infected with CWD. Why would a rural state like Wyoming have more prevalence of CWD?

It makes sense that this disease was planted among the deer. It goes right along with pushing people into the cities. It will take care of those who decide to stay in the country and hunt for their food.

I grew up in Ohio. The deer population is way over the top. Deer season is such a big deal that the schools actually shut down for the first day of deer season.

The sad thing is... there are multiple deer mishaps on Ohio roads.... destroying cars and trucks, and killing so many deer. If you hit a deer (or it hits you... as in most cases), you are supposed to call the authorities. They collect the carcass, take it to a processing plant, and then distribute the meat to local food pantries to help feed the poor. OMG !!! That doesn't seem to be a good idea, does it?

You can sterilize hunting equipment with a 40% bleach solution. You have to soak knives and other potentially infected equipment for at least 5 minutes in the 40% bleach solution.

has to be less than two years since yearlings get it. interesting thing is you never see a fawn with it because even though it may be infected from its sick mother, it is not showing any outward symptoms yet. it's a scary kind of disease since the infecting agent is a self replicating protein "mutation" that is very resistant to destruction but not technically alive. if it can cross the species barrier we are in very bad shape imo and since the the normal proteins involved that the misshaped ones displace are present in all mammals , it seems likely.

IMO cwd in deer is a natural process of population control where animals become "infected" when over stressed by overpopulation..one shocking thing i learned is that deer when hard pressed can become carrion eaters or even cannibalistic, that is the disease seems to be spread by animals unaturally consuming their own kind
