Everything went wrong when the neighbor called the cops instead of just walking up to the door himself and calling out to her.

Was almost killed there two months ago, on purpose by a driver in a new cherry red pickup, custom 50's fenders (hint) a real transplant macho signifier, majorly from south of the Rio Grande. During morning rush hour. I'd passed him three miles ahead, and out of the blue then he came RIGHT at my front left fender, me in the right lane. Happened to be looking to my left at something else so saw this THING coming right at my car, purposefully. Thank God there was 8' feet to the concrete barrier; then he darted immediately over to the fast lane with about 6' between vehicles he jumped between! Saw him coming and swerved like a hardened road warrior champ. Truly; my dad was friends with AJFoyt as a child (they took engines apart and put them back together, along with my Uncle, now 95, blind, but an arch-mechanic for the Navy, WWII), and I've learned some hardcore Texas driving, but being a woman target of illegal aliens is just too much and I left long ago.

Hairiest, scariest trip outside of Lincoln Tunnel thrust into Manhattan I've ever driven. And I bullied a NYC cab with a Honda Civic Hatchback. Won't drive DFW to Fort Worth Corridor again. No fun being a female around these guys.

Sucks there is no police presence, at least at rush hour when it's needed, unlike harass and ticket hours, Bars-letting-out hours probably goes with the territory.

The woman's family needs to hire a good civil rights lawyer to file a wrongful death lawsuit. Public agencies (just like corporations) don't change their behavior until you hit them hard in the pocket book.

In the meantime, as these incidents increase across the country, peeps will start to realize that the police are not their friends. Where that leads, who knows.

Worry not folks, once the cops wrap up their investigation of themselves it will be known that the shooting was in fact justified and the officer will face no charges and probably get a nice paid vacation while they're investigating.

The cops are always there to protect themselves from serving any time.

Absolutely ridiculous. I see two big problems. One, police shouldn’t be able to base their actions on anonymous phone calls or reports. Two, police shouldn’t be allowed to go on people’s property without permission. The property owner didn’t call them to report a crime. A neighbor called to report the front door open.

Exactly. How difficult is it to check on someone? You don't need the cops to do it.
