I'm convinced it's hard to do searches today because it's purposeful; an entire sub culture of third parties run businesses to search for you on the internet, get rid of old citations, have something remove from the net in general. The more intelligent you are the more curious, so it is a reverse way of weeding out the dumb people. You COULD also just spend hours and days trying various search engines, or Wayback to find old pages. Or use the Libraries computer. Each of has has all sorts of cookies attached to our home connections, go to where you're anonymous on the web or use someone else connection. They are spying on us so they block attempts to find information in accordance with who you are!
