Are We About to Have a NATIONAL DISH SOAP Shortage?

This is the first I've heard of a dish soap shortage. Thanks for the tip, I'll buy a couple extra bottles when I go shopping. It seems like there has been an awful lot of shortages and recalls this year. I have a feeling it will get worse next year. Maybe there is a short supply of some ingredient they need to make it, or on the conspiracy side they could be diverting supplies to stock the underground bunkers.

We need a list of primary household products from China so we can plan around this idiocracy rather than panicking and hoarding.

If you check out the Dollar stores, doesn't matter which chain, you'll notice a lot of that dish detergent, and washing detergent too, is being manufactured in Mexico, not China, so China can fuck off.

But I have to add something for the preppers too: don't throw away your soap scraps. You're probably not doing that anyway if you're prepping but a lot of people do when they get too small to handle. Save them up and simmer them in a pot with water. Always buy extra Borax - 20 Mule Team is fine: you can do laundry and dishes with only that if you must and it's not nearly as harsh on you as most detergents. It'll also soften your water so you can get the most suds out of your soap.

Do you want a 'detergent' or a soap? A detergent, unless it's one of those eco-friendly kind, contains some very dangerous solvents that are hard to rinse off your dishes and you. You shouldn't be needing a solvent to clean your dishes, no matter what kind of crap was left on them.

Tide pods are too expensive when you don't work.
So they're resorting to eating dish soap.

Ok, there are random items that are getting hard to find. Some I use, some I don't. The Campbells Soup shelf is really small at my new HEB. I don't buy it but it is noticeable for the small selection. Nutigrain bars now have no icing. Its hard to find plastic dish scrubbers.

There are other items I can only get online now.

Put a bar of grated soap in 1 quart of boiling water and stir it until it is melted. Allow it too cool and then use it like you would dish soap. Just make sure you rinse your dishes thoroughly.

If you're worried about getting all the soap off, and I know that can vary a lot with the kind of water you're using, add some vinegar to your rinse water.

Dish soap comes from pigs is why. African swine flu is causing huge population of farm pigs to be killed off. The situation appears to be spreading too to Europe. we are ok in the USA currently and have plenty of feral, huge, mean, wild bore to go after too. Problem is that the Chinese have the dish soap market.

Thanks! Yeah, chemicals and avoiding them is more and more important as most everything processed (including soap) off the shelves is FULL of them. I can't even abide the smell of Palmolive dish washing liquid.
