It’s unusual to extend a deployment unless there is a war happening or just about to happen...

I remember back in 2003 I was onboard the USS Constellation in the Persian Gulf for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Our deployment got extended for a month, the USS Lincoln was in Australia headed back to home port and they got turned around and re-deployed to the Persian Gulf.

I would keep a very close eye on this, if there are other carriers already in the area or headed there now, some shit is about to go down.

I think they are using incremental deployments to amass troops in key hot spots in case something does kick off.This way it's not seen as a major deployment with action imminent.

I actually hope another land war is NOT in the offing in the Middle East.

There is a thread here (somewhere about three months ago) that the OP saw where the civil naval fleet was being retro fitted for military applications. The ships are civilian but can be retro fitted for troops and or tanks and equipment. On top of the B-1, tanks, aircraft carriers...

We've been putting anti-ship missiles BACK ON COAST GUARD VESSELS.
