Tax software discussion: TurboTax vs H&R Block vs ....
OK bros I know taxes are unpopular but I'd like to hear some opinions on the software you use to prepare taxes. I don't use the online options since I need to itemize so a downloadable or CD software product is what I'm interested in talking about. Have you used Liberty, TaxSlayer, TaxAct?? POST HERE!!

First, I've been on Intuit and H&R block web sites to read some reviews and people everywhere are simply PISSED the heck off! The IRS seems to be delaying refunds this year due to the PATH act enacted by Congress in an effort to combat ID fraud through child tax credits. Many filing with these types of credits have seen delays according to postings. Some filing as early as January and have seen no "progress" from Where's My Refund updates. Furthermore the IRS has been slow to approve official forms for the software makers to update their apps leading to even more delays. Some special forms aren't even available until March according to published timelines from IRS.

Secondly, folks have become very angry with TurboTax / Intuit this year because this is the first year they've required an activation code for using their product. Allegedly you're allowed to activate the software on 5 unique computers but paid purchasers are reporting they are losing access to the program after using it 5 times on the SAME computer! I've read enough to believe this is perhaps an issue with the store-bought CD versions only and the latest downloadable versions from Intuit's site are solving this issue allegedly.

Thirdly, I've always used TurboTax but the fact that Intuit has completely aligned itself with the radical fascist left according to their social media postings now makes me uncomfortable to support their company. I've always enjoyed the ease of importing 1099 data from Intuit's financial partners with relative ease. They have them listed on their site. I called H&R block to ask them which financial institutions they're partnered with and their reps seem not to have a clue. Neither does my broker for that matter. I called them too. So I'm particularly interested in GLP users' experience with H&R Block software if they import 1099 data from their institutions and how well it works compared to TurboLib.

Thanks for the feedback in advance. The internet used to be a place where smart people could convene and figure out tough problems but now every jackass has a phone to post ridiculous comments and good info is hard to come by coupled with the fact these competitors will taint each others' reviews too. I know some smart intelligent people still hang around here so let us know your experience on this subject.

Good luck this tax season GLP bros.
