One could almost get to a point of believing that this WAS a bio attack on the Chinese from the US, that we triggered it to go full lethal in Wuhan....and that he knows this and so really is trying to calm us.

What I can't reconcile with the Chinese using this against is, even if Trump were trying not to create a panic...he is the President. He KNOWS the true death numbers in China via CIA intel, he knows exactly what is really going on. If he really thought millions could die, including children? I cannot believe he would not at least say, be prepared, be smart, we will be able to ride this out.

I agree on a certain level.Staying positive and not focusing all of our mental energy on impending doom is healthy.

I would say, be prepared, be smart, focus on loving others and being kind. I am not really as frightened by this virus outbreak as I am intrigued....I have a young son and so fear is always going to be in the back of my mind. That said, the more we understand and figure out what is happening, the more prepared we can be.

Just as plausible to believe that the Chinese Gov't was doing a small scale test on local subjects to see how their new bio-weapon worked in the real world and it got out of control.

I'd say Trump is using history to predict the likely outcome. Maybe a bit of Occams Razor as well.
