What do you think is going to happen? States are opening beaches again. Water parks. GA says they see no increase. I’m really asking not being sarcastic.

I don't care what other states may do.

Some should open that aren't opening, like my home state of MI.

Some states are opening that shouldn't.

CA where I live is one of those.

Ok, I do report the good news, too, when there is some:

New cases are down over 50% from one month ago.

Daily deaths are also down --from 2,683 on 4/21 -- just over a month ago -- to 617 today (a drop of over 75%!).

NATIONALLY, cases and deaths ARE DOWN -- GOOD NEWS.

AND, YES...THAT MEANS THE COUNTRY CAN BEGIN TO OPEN UP, OF COURSE...

BUT...

In states where cases are still going up that would be very unwise.

This is why the CDC issued guidelines -- ON A STATE BY STATE BASIS -- AND NOT ON A NATIONAL BASIS.

There is a smart way to open up and a dumb way to open up.

To just go ahead and open up all the states regardless of the progress of the pandemic in those states is dumb, dumb, dumb.

I have said the US passed the 100K already, but I think even saying that might fall short of the truth, which is probabably towards the 120K right now.

This analysis is close to be two weeks old, and the 100K deaths, considering a lot of sources and accurate indexes, was already achieved by then, according to the article.

the 1957-58 flu epidemic took 116,000 lives in the United States. The population was 172 million

[link to www.cdc.gov (secure)]

The same percentage of fatal cases today would add up to 224,000 in a country of 332 million

was the country shut down 63 years ago?

that means that something other than public health considerations are in play in 2020

Well, the only difference in Jonhs Hopkins is that they have a lag in the reporting with other sources, worldometers integrates all official sources at once, Johns Hopkins delays a bit but the sources are the same.

The NYtimes is using the excess deaths approach, which tells that more people is dying in all the world, compared with the average of several years before, since the Pandemic started. This is an indirect way of counting the deaths.

BTW, and this is something the Hoaxtards prefer to ignore and not talk about ever, if possible, the much touted "Flu" deaths from previous years, are always calculated by the "Excess deaths" method. When the flu deaths are counted as the Covid-19 are currently being officially counted (backed by a test and in the certificate of death), the "Flu" deaths are 1/10th of the much kicked around 80K.

Yes, I know about the excess deaths.

Overall deaths were down in March, but by April they were way up in the affected states.

The hoaxtards only cite March.

The lockdowns had begun then, but COVID-deaths hadn't really started climbing the way they did in April and Early May.

So, again, the good news...

Daily deaths just over 500

4/21 they were over 2,600

New cases under 20K again.

And again, that is about 50% down from about a month ago.
