Personally I think this is good for academic analysis but would be surprised if any of this played out significantly in the real world.

1) It is possible that COVID will mutaute, however typically they become less lethal, not more lethal with each mutation.

2) COVID has an R0 somewhere between 2.2 - 6.6; probably closer to the 4-4 - 6.6 range; Between 40-80% will achieve heard immunity. We know people become immune to this because Immunoglobulin therapy works and people are testing with positive Titers. The people who have been 'reinfected' likely were never compeltely over the illness. This virus seems to go 'stealth' and can take 4+ weeks or more to totally vanquish.

3) ADE seems like a research topic that we should keep an eye out for; but it's way too early as to whether this will play a significant role in the way we manage public health.

4) As for the HIV Inserts; if this actually was bio-engineered ; and I tend to think it was given the papers from the Chinese Wuhan Scientistt who was experimenting from 2007-2015 with 'HIV psudo-virus subsystems and coronavirus' - jsut because it has a few of these proteins and that allowed for 'cross species jump' does not mean it is really 'airborne aids' as I've heard people say. What this COULD mean however is that a much greater range of zoological animals will become a reserve for this virus and that could trigger both further mutuations and make it much harder to irradiate.

‘Slow ELE’ is pretty much what I’ve been thinking after having read a couple of articles suggesting that COVID survivors don’t acquire immunity to the virus.

Since there likely never will be a vaccine or an effective treatment, our only hope is that the virus will mutate into something less virulent and deadly.

If no immunity can be acquired, then it follows that the 80% who survive with no symptoms, or moderate symptoms, will be permanent reservoirs of the virus who can infect everyone they come into contact with, and in turn be reinfected themselves and die or get sicker than the first time around.

If COVID-19 was as benign as the common cold, being permanently infected, so long as there were no symptoms, wouldn’t be a problem.

The thought that the pandemic could be an extinction level event is scary; scarier than even a global nuclear war. It chills me to the bone in a way that nothing else ever has.

And if no herd immunity can be acquired, then all of the lockdowns and quarantines are totally pointless. Might as well let everything go back to normal and live while we can, for as long as we can. Let ‘er rip, for tomorrow we die.

Perhaps the realization that the pandemic is a potential ELE could be why the government and health care experts are pushing for an 18-month lockdown - they know we’re basically done as a species but are trying to avoid causing unending mass panic, or trying to salvage what little of our world can be salvaged.

I can only hope that when I get the virus (and sooner or later everyone will get it), that it takes me so quickly I won’t know what hit me. Or know that I’m dying.
