What good do masks and gloves do?

Well, I like to laugh, and the laughs I'm getting from masks and gloves show no sign of having their curve flattened.

Doesn't matter whether I'm the giggling moran "dutifully" wearing the PPE, or if I'm witnessing the glassy-eyed zombies looking at me with terror in their glassy eyes, despite the fact that I try to maintain a social superdistance of 20'.

It's embarrassing to contemplate how history will record this episode. "In 2020, the faggification of America was complete."

The current mask will reduce some of the fluids coming out of your body so it may benefit 3rd parties somewhat. It could also prevent some droplets from getting in your mouth and nose but not all. You need a full hood which cover the eyes and has positive pressure so clean filtered air fill the chambers and leaks out around the edges. Right now more and more medical people are putting googles on because droplets can enter the body thru the tear ducts in your eyes. After you take everything off what do you do? Probably contaminate it and your back to square one. Maybe UV light to partially sterilize it. But you’ll feel really good about yourself that your doing your part and as they told you too.

The gloves help remind you to not touch your face and when you take them off, you have significantly less viral particles on your skin. They can be bad if you don't change them often and you should still wash your hands every time you change gloves, just like in food service.

many cashiers have worn gloves for decades. especially the ones that work in cafeterias like the one at my local VA hospital

OP has obviously not watched superhero movies. Masks and gloves help, along with a costume.

I too find the gloves to be useless to the spread, it will spread from the gloves too. The masks seem more useful but I am no expert. Not too many wearing the masks around our parts anyway. The one day I did wander out to get my Easter ham from Honeybaked, I saw more people than not wearing the masks.

A couple of weeks ago when I was still shopping myself, I saw masks, gloves and clorox wipes on the ground from MORONS that just left them after shopping, yes people suck, so bad!

The worst thing are the people that don't think the virus is real and creep right up on you in the store.

I don't know really, this whole situation sucks balls.

They don't do much. I suggest a plastic bag wrapped tightly around the head. Duct tape makes a good seal around the neck if it's pulled tightly enough. This should keep you well protected.

I agree, but the gloves are used to prevent you from getting the virus onto your hands and entering into cuts. While wearing gloves, you never touch your face or pick your nose. Best to use alcohol disinfectant between customers, while wearing gloves. Otherwise, change your gloves for every customer...

What if you fart. Wouldn't you be potentially spreading CoVid-19 especially if you're Asymptomatic...

gloves and masks are FINE if done correctly in an already sterile setting

or on a garbageman or me when I take out trash

Masks cut down on the viral load which is thought to be directly proportional to the severity of the case in some situations.

Gloves allow one to avoid contaminating their environment. If the gloves are worn into a store for instance, you can place your things in the trunk and dispose of the gloves in the parking lot before entering your car.

When you get home you can put on a fresh pair and take the items inside to sanitize/sterilize them and then you throw the gloves away when you are done.

It's not complicated.

It's about reducing the initial viral load.

It's unlikely that you will be able to prevent even 1 viron from entering your body if you are heading out... it is a mitigation measure.

N-95 is a respirator.

Again, the point is to reduce the viral load.

There is a good chance that N95’s work against this. Otherwise they wouldn’t have healthcare workers wearing them. Also mask and safety glasses make it very difficult to touch your face.
And gloves are easy to take off you don’t necessarily have to wash your hands when you are done. Also you are more aware of touching things and your face while wearing gloves

Oh yeah also if you don’t wear gloves and you even the slightest wound. Good chance you’ll get it. Gloves eliminate this possibility. The virus needs and entry pathway it can’t get through your skin unless there is a way in. Even a tiny popped pimple or scratch

Unless you are in a fully sealed hazmat suit, wearing a mask is pointless as there are microscopic gaps between the mask and your cheek. Also the virus can enter through your eyes. It can also hitch a ride on your clothes. The masks are a simply a more modern, "sophisticated" form of collective ritual/superstition. Bill Gates and TPTB must get a good laugh seeing how obedient and quickly the sheeple comply with orders from on high.

Gloves keep my hands warm just like a hat keeps my head warm, especially when its cold outside.
