It is Meat Loaf and though he was born Marvin Lee Aday, he changed it to Michael because of that old commercial "old fat Marvin can't wear Levis". He is also legally known as Meat Loaf as well.

As for that backing vocal track he was not lip synching it is a track used to "beef up" the voice, but he has a live mic. If you heard some of his worst live vocals you would know that ain't no lip sync. His voice is very unstable, I have heard him powerful and note perfect, and I have seen him struggle.

The man has lasted for 40 plus years in the music industry, he has gone from the top selling over 43 million copies to being bankrupt and playing clubs then clawed his way back to the top again. Like him or not he is a legit legend.

Yep, he's a legend.

Every song on Bat Out of Hell is great. And strangely, I heard two of his songs on my Ipod today.
