They'll throw medications at you that have more side effects than the condition you're trying to treat. If the medication doesn't kill you or you don't know complications from it, you're lucky. It's a sick, twisted system of negligence and incompetence. Doctors will throw medications at you, hoping one sticks and fixes your problem. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75165825 Sad story. Is it expensive or does it cost a lot? There's a difference. These meds are expensive only because the manufacturers can squeeze money from the medical industry and insurance. The cost to make rattlesnake anti-venom probably cost about $10. |

Medical cost are at an insane level. Most doctors are just commissioned referral agents for specialists. They put doctors on pedestals so you can feel better being ripped off by them. Being a good automotive mechanic takes more skill and study than buying a doctor title. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 77905742 United States 05/16/2020 07:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Snoring = airway problem and you always investigate airway problems. It is the first part of the triage assessment. That hospital is going to get sued and the staff working that case will probably lose their licenses. If a doctor is not doing what they should the nurse is supposed to advocate for their patients. That is literally the most important part of a nurses job. This was a total failure of the entire staff in that ED. It will be even worse if the family didn’t have insurance and the hospital was trying to avoid pricey care to save money. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77180295 There is a growing population that now distrusts them. I had to have a cyst removed and asked the nurse in the changing room if the doc was any good. (BTW it could have been removed in a lazy boy recliner, with a scalpel and 3 stitches in 10 minutes, but they had to pump it up into a federal case, operating room, electric cauterization... $$$$$$ - fucking THIEVES) Anyway, she hesitated (a bit too long I thought) "He's not bad...", she said, then whispered, "but there are some doctors in this place who I wouldn't let work on my dog." |

I keep a fully charged cattle prode by the front door now just in case . Quoting: Bob 78251673 Serious question, do you use the electrical charge as 1st aid treatment for the snake bite or as a weapon to use against the snake? Reason asking is years ago about early eighties I remember reading an article in the Outdoor Life magazine about a Texan veterinarian who was using the electrical charge from a modified stun gun to treat his snake bitten dogs. The idea is to use high voltage/low current change the electrical polarity of the Venom before it has time to bind to and damage tissue. In the article he detailed how to make a makeshift device using jumper cables and the starter coil (cash for clunkers cars) or modify the stun gun prongs to be able to be useful to get in between the fingers of a small hand. I haven’t heard of any widespread use of this technique outside of that article. It is shameful if something as simple as using an electrical charge could have saved this child from going through all that suffering. |

Snoring respirations post snake bite is absolutely not normal and this kid should have been flown to the children's hospital and definitely should have gotten antivenom if the decision was to move the kid because that indicates they knew there were complications. Cluster fuck. And people say, "Why did you drop out of medical school? You had early admish...blah...blah...blah!" Why? Because medicine is a giant cluster fuck and I don't want to spend my life being the fucking little Dutch boy fighting the Katies and Teds of the World. |

I will google for hours to look for "Top Docs" and specialists in their area, then I suggest one or two for them. As we all know, not all doctors are as competent as some others. I will always be grateful for three physicians at Scripps in San Diego and a cardiac surgeon at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. They saved my adult child's life. If anyone needs physicians in those areas, I will gladly recommend! May I add, that if you or family members are ever hospitalized, know what meds are to be given, what time, and know all treatments prescribed. Question the doctors and nurses if necessary. You really have to be responsible for your own care, and don't take no for an answer if you feel something isn't right. Last Edited by nutmeg on 05/16/2020 09:10 AM |
