It is not surprising at all that Israel DESPERATELY wants this territory. It has been discussed for quite some time (including myself) that the West Bank territory that is under consideration for annexation is the actual home of the ancient city JEBUS. Jeubs was the ancient name of the city Jerusalem. This is where the threshing floor was purchased by David and eventually became the location for Solomon's Temple. After it was destroyed by the Babylonians in 856 BCE, the entire area was cleaned down to bedrock, all the gold dug out of the ground and all history of the area was swept clean for the 500 years that followed.

The threshing floor was the ORIGINAL PLACE that God had chosen for the First Temple. It was holy ground and that was forever. The holy ground has been hidden for centuries. It was purchased from the JEBUSITES which, along with Amorites, and Hittites were loyal followers of Jehovah under the Tribe of Benjamin. All these tribes (except some Jebusites) were eradicated from the planet. So, somewhere around the area where Jebus stood, Solomon's Temple was built. It was at a LOW point because threshing floors are traditionally found at flat lower geographies. Because they "went up to Jerusalem", Jerusalem was on a higher point than the Temple was.

Careful scrutiny of bible text will show that quotations of Jerusalem can be attributed to either Jerusalem which was destroyed in 586 BCE or the Jerusalem which was destroyed in 70AD. It is prophecied in Ezekiel that someone will come along and build the temple on the original spot that was chosen for it IN THE EYES OF THE WORLD. It is the last prophecy of Scriptures before God, Himself will return will all of heaven--and the Temple of God in Heaven will descend to the Earth onto the rebuilt Sanctuary. Israel is always at war with it's neighbors. Seems like the Heb's hate the Arabs and vice versa. Of course in a joint effort the Arabs could create a lot of problems for Israel and lately the Arabs have acquired some powerful new friends. Maybe Israel will nuke their neighbors and themselves reap the fallout. A lot of hate and animosity have been generated in this area since the 40's and at some point the Karmic bubble will burst.
