He was complaining about not being able to breathe before he was pinned to the ground... the security video shows him collapse near the cruiser as he's being led over to it. The officers thought he was being an asshole and going limp, which is passive resistance... this makes cops very angry. So they pinned him down, but he was already dying. I still think they should all be fired but it wasn't murder. |

If you were a police officer and you were arresting a suspect that was violently resisting arrest, so you had to use significant force to get him under control, but he died, because, the strain of him resisting arrest, and a heart defect, that you were unaware of, do you think that you should be arrested for murder? The optics in the Floyd case are very bad, but kneeling on the back of Floyd's neck to control him, may have caused pain by forcing Floyd's face into the ground, but it did not block off his carotid arteries, and did not block his trachea to prevent breathing. It was to restrict Floyd's movement until the transportation wagon arrived. It may have violated police dept policy, but it was not murder. This case is very similar to the Eric Garner Case in NY. In that case a Grand jury did not indict the officer. |
