When I went down the aisle with soda on one side and bottled drinks on the other, there was a Pepsi vendor standing there looking at the shelves which were half empty in front of him. Quoting: Prayandprepare000 I asked if Pepsi is having supply problems and he said "yes, they can't get aluminum now". I realize we can live without soda cans. But for many of us there are all kinds of aluminum products that might be good to stock up on. Foil, disposable pans. A great deal of manufacturing relies on aluminum parts. Our terrible action in outsourcing aluminum manufacture to China is just one more thing that is going to bite us for months at a minimum, along with meds and so many other items. Local brewery had to move away from 32oz cans for a period of time. They had them back last time I checked but they said it was due to shortage. |

Brought to you by Alcoa! Alcoa closed the bauxite mine in Benton years ago. As far as I know, there is plenty of bauxite left to make aluminum, if they want to re-open it. IIRC, they wanted us to give them the electricity to make aluminum and they had to pay for it. I wonder if Trump opened up the lead mines that Obama closed down in Mo? You can't make bullets if you don't have lead. And that is also why the car batteries that you buy now aren't worth a shit. chinese lead. I don't have the time or the crayons to explain this to you. When I went down the aisle with soda on one side and bottled drinks Quoting: Prayandprepare000 I guess its because of fencing. Lots of people getting fences built or barricades being built. Im in the aluminum fencing biz and the local manufacturer is claiming supply line delays causing products to take additional weeks to manufacture. They also modestly raised prices at the same time. I am in the sign business. "Delays" on Alcoa .080, .100, .125 .125 sheet is still somewhat easy to get because it is more costly @ ~$23 - $31/sq. ft. depending on the grade. 5052-H32 5052-H38 6061-T6 Al square posts and Al diamond plate are the same wait times. It never clicked until I read this thread. I was thinking due to CoVid. Make big money in the aluminum business! Buy it for $30 a pound and sell it for 75 cents a pound. Well maybe not. |
