Here in the UK we get £90 per week and rent paid directly to the landlord.
And NO MONEY FOR WEEKS/MONTHS if you dont prove you have spent at least 5 hours a day online trying to get a job.

To prove it you use the government website and need to give them full access to your account or no money for you.

Not true. I'm in Texas and the TWC sent me an email saying that ' if I file between the 18th and the 25th I'll receive the 600 for both weeks'. If you file from 25th to Aug 1st you will only receive 600$ for one week if benefits and the other week will be just regular unemployment.

I'm glad I took my furlough this week, had a 3 day 4th of july weekend plus this whole week off.

The follow-on House Bill would have extended it to the end of January as they said there was no way the economy and jobs would be back by July. They were right, but Trump and McConnell both said they would axe the bill in the Senate.

Until Unemployment catches the mistake and requires him/her to repay it all back, with interest and late fees. They won't wait months for their money like we had to wait for ours.
I hope they never catch the mistake but expect that they will.

Yes there are. SHIT paying jobs that no one can live on. I'll give you a case study to explain the issue:

I had a primary job as a pastry chef at a private school...made $18/hr for that. It wasn't quite enough to cover everything, so I also got a part time job in retail making $10/hr to just give me the cushion and extra I wanted to live decent.

Both jobs went away without notice in March due to hysteria over a cold virus. I did nothing wrong to lose these jobs, ad qualified for unemployment. Normal unemployment in my state is $285/wk...no one can live on that. NO ONE. And due to the lockdown there was no ability to scramble and find new jobs that would pay ENOUGH to live. The federal money is the only reason we didn't lose the roof over our head.

Forward to July. I am now working the part time job in retail and still qualify for unemployment due to the low pay. The money I earn from the part time job is taken away from my unemployment $$, which is fine. Between that job and the unemployment, I'm still able to keep the roof over our head. Unemployment ending end of this month, but pastry job starting up beginning of Aug, so we're OK. I'm excited to get back to work over full time!

City just announced that we're going back to "phase 2" due to common cold resurg. Schools are going to be virtual for the considerable future, no need for food at the school, so the pastry job isn't happening. Again, due to NO FUCKING FAULT of my own! So now I have only the state unemployment of $285/wk minus my part time earnings. That is not enough to live on. Even if I COULD get full time hours at the part time gig, not enough to live on. All the other "essential" jobs that are still out there are shit wages at stores, NOT ENOUGH to live on.

Take away the federal unemployment and I'm fucked. DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN. I'm willing to work, but there's nothing out there that will pay. I'd consider finding a baking job at a restaurant, but those are either closed or gone (out of business), etc., etc. Most won't pay what that job at the private school paid.

Meantime, Congress is discussing how many billions to pay to the usual people (banks/big companies/cronies) and the little guy is told "unemployment is preventing people from going back to work so we're getting rid of it). Really? Where are the fucking jobs that you destroyed?? What should we do when the dem "leaders" are keeping us in a state of emergency where our jobs continue to be furloughed?

They had BETTER extend that shit. It's a mystery to me why everyone begrudges that the little guy is given enough to live on during this but have nothing to say about all the fat cats getting rich while they tear our lives to shreds and destroy our opportunities. EXTEND THE UNEMPLOYMENT.
