Enable networks to SWITCH OFF your electricity without warning or compensation Government mulls emergency measures that would enable networks to SWITCH OFF your electricity without warning or compensation Quoting: Little Lost The Government is considering giving energy networks the power to switch off a household's energy supply without warning or compensation. These include giving networks the right to decide when they consider the grid to be in a state of 'emergency' and the power to switch off high usage electrical devices such as electric vehicle chargers and central heating systems in British homes. Under the plans all homes would need to have a third generation smart meter installed, to include a function that allows meters in the home to receive and carry out orders made by the energy networks. Sources close to discussions told us that government is 'open' to proposing legislation to support these powers. [link to www.thisismoney.co.uk (secure)] Take more control of the grid AND force people to upgrade their home or move into a more modern one , likely closer to metropolitan and sub-urban areas. Enable networks to SWITCH OFF your electricity without warning or compensation I'm actually selling power to my neighbor who is remodeling his home next door...I run solar and and when he asked I run an extension cord over for him. The next day he hands me $200 in cash...lol I wasn't going to charge him, but he had a big smile on his face, and I'm not accustomed to not accepting money, so I smiled and nodded so as not to offend my Chinese friend...at least he ain't black! I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |

Clever Or to start to move life off grid. Maybe start with an olive tree, oil lamo, sterling engine, and a elec motor. Got your self beginning of a supply of long term elec right there. |

They had to be taught not to leave nails laying around...I own the sidewalk next to their property and I use it...I started finding nails and warned them...then I found more and returned them, with my hammer...I put their nails in the walls, doors, nailed pieces of roofing materials to the floor...they got the message and began sweeping up after their sloppy workers... Enable networks to SWITCH OFF your electricity without warning or compensation Not anything new ... if you live in California or other places in the US. California utilities have been shutting off electricity WITHOUT notice to thousands of people at a time since their big wildfires that burned up Paradise a few years back. In addition in times of power shortages (as in during the last month) California will shut down parts of the grid so as to save power so as to keep the rest of the grid up. Many of the shutdowns in California have been with NO notice ... and people and businesses are NOT entitled to compensation when the grid gets shut down. Not sure why you seem to be surprised by this kind of situation ... very common in parts of the US and has been going on here for my entire life (which goes back a LONG time) |

Enable networks to SWITCH OFF your electricity without warning or compensation A small generator 3-5Kw costs $300-$500. This will keep the lights, fridge, etc. going. 25 gallons of gas will last 5-7 days Living in Florida, I lost power for 2 days with hurricane Irma. My 4kw gen kept the fridge, freezer, lights, small room AC, inet router and laptop going. Well worth the investment. |

At least then they have to send a crony out to shut your shit off and they would be risking their lives in certain scenarios. |

Enable networks to SWITCH OFF your electricity without warning or compensation What happens if they shut off the power to someone's home in the dead of winter and freeze a family to death? Or shut off the power supply to a bedridden person's oxygen tank? What do they define as an emergency that would justify jeopardising people's lives? We have already seen governments around the world abuse their emergency powers with covid so what is to stop these electricity companies from abusing it as well. |
