They are the same. Ftl requires insane amount of energy and time travel does also. Ftl also requires time dilation. If one were to achieve as fast as light travel they would experience time in a backwards fashion. Similar but not including the forward relativistic motion of our time. Paradoxically they would emerge in our future but be extremely old. Yet appear young. As the age when left initially. I believe we will conquer time travel and be able to meet our past selfs. Not just break the Ftl barrier but that of time. It will not precise at first but will be much more after decades of advancement. I believe that time is now.

how come when people talk about time travel, they talk about traveling dozens to thousands of years in either direction?

why doesn't anybody talk about traveling seconds into the past, or future?
