How are watermarks implausible? They are on pretty much every check. Easy to check no? Just get some ballots and have a look.

After I first heard about the watermarks, I stuck my ballot strip under a microscope just to check it out. These might be the microdots I’m seeing, little neon yellow things. They were not visible to the naked eye.
