Marc Raibert says in the video that the reason his robots have legs is to go where people can.

He's dancing around the truth. I think the conversation when Boston Dynamics started went like this:

DARPA: We need a robot to hunt down insurgents and dissidents. We can't rely on soldiers, who are mostly conservatives, to reliably kill Americans who think like they do.

Raibert: Well to do that the robot needs legs. Tracks and wheels won't cut it because insurgents hide in rural locations.

DARPA: So what do you need?

Raibert: At least $100 million.

DARPA: That's easy. Here's the check.

OP,CBS news is as bad a source of propaganda as can be viewed.

Don't look to homosexual CIA mockingbird agents for a legit source of info.

I was at a surplus store sometime ago and picked up cheap a used CCTV camera for parts. It had an aluminum cover to protect the camera.

So I took it out to the range and plinked at it with a .22

What I found was anything less than a wildcat .22 would bounce off the cover,leaving just a dent. The hottest of the wildcats (>1600 fps) slid through the camera like butter.

Just sayin.

Funny how they pretend its not designed to be fully autonomous by having a kid hold an Xbox control in the background.

It was a bit of a puff-piece to dispel fear. They are likely years ahead of what was shown. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a platoon of these things being tested with real weapons.

Notice that 60 Minutes "tried for years" to get inside the facility. Now that people are concerned with what they are frankensteining in their lab, they were let in on a very controlled tour.
