For Publix grocery, Home Depot, & doctor’s offices visits, has anyone found a relatively uneventful mask alternative?

For Publix grocery, Home Depot, doctor’s offices & other essential visits - Does anyone have a relatively uneventful mask alternative? I like picking out my own produce, dairy, and meats, and half the time I got to a hardware store, I am not sure what I need until I start playing w different fix-it ideas while I’m pursuing the aisles. I know you can order online but you have to insist on certain quality and color of produce (maybe they get it right).

The regular grocery store visits, and the occasional hardware store and doctor visits are the only places I feel compelled to wear a mask. Other than finding a tiny grocery store w a very limited array of foods, or finding small town doctors in BFE, I curious if anyone has found a fairly uneventful way of getting around the mask conundrum.

I would rather not wear lie; but... will entertain most anything.

I just wear an N95 -- if I'm going to wear a silly mask, might as well wear one that *might* be at least somewhat effective

Lowe’s doesn’t require, I bet I could get away without one in Home Depot too

I’ve made it through a 10-minute shopping in CVS, and through an outdoor gear store, but most places, especially cowered doctor’s offices, mandate it; as they will escort you out.

Home depot I consider one of the good stores that doesn't typically bat an eye at me not wearing one. Once in a while they will have someone at the front door ask if I want one for free and a simple no thanks while continuing to walk ends that conversation politely.

And no nazis coming after you in either location? Publix comes over the intercom and reminds everyone of their ask policy, at least here in Central Florida.

I walked into a gun store and no one had a mask on.

Anywhere else, just wear to get through the door without any hassle and then pull it down like a chin guard or beard net. No one has ever said anything to me ever because truthfully, nobody gives a darn how it’s worn as long as they see it.

Just carry a drink and unmask. Anybody says jack, you hold up your drink.

I wear a face shield when I absolutely must have a "face covering," because it's the only way I can breathe and accommodate their insanity.

Went to the dentist last week and was given a prize for being the first to show up in a shield. The prize - a new shield!

Home Depot and Walmart do not require face masks. We had a state mask mandate since July, just struck down by the state supreme court this week, but during that entire time, I never wore a mask when visiting Home Depot or Walmart. Nobody ever said a word other than at Walmart on a few occasions the greeter said something on his radio when entering.

I would suggest this. Bring it with you, put it in your pocket, but don't put it on. Enter the store, keep moving. If an employees asks you if you would like a mask, politely say "no thank you" and keep walking. If they say you MUST wear a mask, make a decision whether you want to wear it or go somewhere else, but don't make a deal about it, it's not their fault, they just work there.

My wife loves to shop, and this has been her approach. Most of the time she doesn't wear a mask.

I notice if I "forget" until I am almost to the door social monitor and then fumble around with my mask and put it on my chin as I am walking by that is enough.

I have a plan to say I am primary social distancing and will pull it up if I need to have a conversation if asked, but no one ever asks.

Also, if you open carry something obvious like a 44 mag or a 1911, they just stare at your gun when you are walking in and won't even look up at your face.

I have noticed right around 50% of the police in my city will not mask up. Since they open carry, it conditions people to make allowance for other people carrying.

Funny thing is, my state doesn't require masks, just the city that employs said non-compliance anti-mask police.
